Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the switch of ignition and lock of blocking of a steering column

 The models of cars considered in the present manual are equipped with system of additional safety (SRS). Before starting performance of any works near the block of a safety cushion, a steering column or the dashboard, disconnect SRS in order to avoid getting injured at its casual operation (see the Section of the Safety cushion - the general information). It is easy to distinguish an electrical wiring of a chain of SRS on yellow color of isolation.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect system of additional safety.
2. Remove a driver's knee emphasis and covers of a casing of a steering column (see the Head Kuzov).

3. Disunite the contact socket located in about 15 cm below the switch.

4. By means of an ohmmeter check the socket for existence of conductivity between contact plugs in each of provisions of the ignition key.

5. At identification of violations in distribution of conductivity replace the switch.
6. Estimate degree of wear and reliability of fixing of the castle cylinder. Make sure that the arrangement of index tags corresponds to true position of a key in the lock. In case of detection of defects replace assembly of the lock.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Perform the procedures described in paragraphs with 1 on 3 for the purpose of ensuring access to the ignition switch.
2. Disunite the contact socket, turn out fixing screws and remove the switch together with an electrical wiring plait piece.
3. Installation is made upside-down.

4. Replacement of the castle cylinder in an individual order is not represented possible. In case of detection of defects it is necessary to replace all assembly of the lock of ignition. Remove srezny bolts of fastening of assembly (use a drill and a special extractor), divide in half a basic arm and remove it from a steering column.


5. Establish new to the place of the failed switch, screw new bolts and tighten them before cutting of heads. At the corresponding complete set of the car do not forget to return into place spring contact of a safety cushion, only after it establish a steering wheel (see the Head Podvesk and steering).
