Safety cushions - the general information General informationAll models considered in the present manual are equipped with system of additional safety (SRS) better known under the name of safety cushions. Since 1995 issues are included in an obligatory complete set of models two safety cushions. The system provides additional protection of the driver and forward passenger of the car at strong front blow. On models of early years of release only the driver's pillow is provided. The self-diagnostics module is a part of the SRS control unit. ECU SRS is located in interior of the car. Models 1998 and 1999 of of the issue are in addition equipped with side safety cushions of front seats which work at strong side blows. Operation of safety cushions happens on the signals of sensors of the directed overloads processed by ECU SRS. Modules of safety cushions Driver's safety cushion The module is placed in a stupichny part of a steering wheel and consists of a casing in which the pillow and the gas-generating block are placed actually. The gas generator is in a back part of a casing and provides almost instant filling of a pillow with gas according to the team issued to SRS. The electric signal is given on a gas generator through the spring contact come in a stupichny part of a steering column behind the safety cushion module. Signal transmission through spring contact is carried out regardless of the provision of a steering wheel. Igniter in assembly of a gas generator will transform the arriving team to the thermal impulse causing ignition of powdery mix of azid of sodium with copper oxide. At explosive combustion of powder there is a release of the nitrogen, for fractions of a second filling a safety cushion. Passenger safety cushion The module of a passenger safety cushion is built in in the car dashboard directly over a ware box. From above marking of "SRS" in this case is applied on the dashboard. The structure and the principle of functioning of the module are similar considered above for a driver's safety cushion. The passenger pillow on volume slightly more than driver's is also equipped with a steel persistent casing. The decorative cover is divided by the soldered seam which disperses at operation of system. Side safety cushions Having more compact design, side safety cushions provide protection of the driver and forward passenger at strong side blows of the car. Sensors of overloads of side safety cushions are placed in the lower part of door pillars. Block of management/self-diagnostics and additional sensors of overloads Activation of a pillow happens only at simultaneous operation of the main and additional sensors of the directed overloads. In case of failure of the rechargeable battery food in the SRS system moves from an autonomous reserve source. Precautionary measures
At service of the safety cushions of all components located close always previously disconnect SRS: At removal of modules of safety cushions always you hold them a front part from yourself. Do not put the module on a workbench or other surface a safety cushion aperture down. Do not apply an ohmmeter to measurement of resistance of the SRS components at all, - tension from the power supply which is built in the measuring instrument is capable to cause operation of pillows. Before application on the car of arc welding surely disconnect SRS electrical wiring (the socket of yellow color located under a steering column in the neighbourhood with the socket of the combined understeering switch - a driver's safety cushion) and the same socket behind assembly of a ware box (a passenger safety cushion). Shutdown of the SRS system Disconnect from the battery at first a negative wire, then positive and wait within not less than 10 minutes before starting performing procedures.
Driver's safety cushion Remove the access panel in the central part of a steering wheel under assembly of the module of a safety cushion and disunite the 2-kontatkny socket of the electrical wiring passing between the module and spring contact (see the Head Podvesk and steering). Passenger safety cushion Open a ware box. In the top part of a ware compartment, near a latch disunite the 2-kontatkny socket of an electrical wiring of a plait of the yellow color connecting the safety cushion module to the main braid. Side safety cushions Hooking the special tool, accurately separate the back panel of finishing of the corresponding front seat, - try not to touch an electrical wiring of yellow color. Disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring. Inclusion of the SRS system Turning on of SRS modules is made upside-down. Switch off ignition. Connect the rechargeable battery. Removal and installation of the SRS components Driver's safety cushion See the Head Podvesk and steering. Passenger safety cushion Switch-off the module of the corresponding safety cushion. Remove the lower section of finishing from the passenger party of the dashboard (see the Head Kuzov). Installation is made upside-down.
Side safety cushions Disconnect the SRS system. Disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring of the module of the corresponding safety cushion. Turn out two fixing screws with heads like TORX and remove the module. Installation is made upside-down. |
