Check of functioning of system of ignition

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 In view of the fact that in system of ignition very high voltage is developed, service of its components has to be made with extra care. This remark belongs not only to the main knots of electronic system of ignition, but also and to all accompanying components, including tips of candle wires, a tachometer and the other diagnostic equipment.

It is not necessary to attribute at once a cause of failure at start of the engine of malfunction of functioning of system of ignition. Before make the following checks:

a) Check a condition of tips of wires of the battery and reliability of their fastening on polar plugs;
b) Check a condition of the battery (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of the Battery), in case of need replace it obviously serviceable;
c) Visually estimate a condition of contact sockets of the distributor and coil of ignition (model till 1995 of the issue);
d) Check a condition of fusible inserts in the assembly block of safety locks installed in interior of the car (see the Head Onboard electric equipment). In case of identification of "breakdown" find out and remove the cause of an overload.


Models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If the engine is turned, but not started, disconnect from candles of VV of a wire and connect them to the special calibrated ignition tester (ask in shops of automobile accessories). Connect a contact clip of the measuring instrument to a bolt or a metal arm on the block of the power unit, then turn the engine, - between an electrode and the case of a tester well distinguishable spark of bright blue color has to slip (weak intensity of a spark should be considered as its absence).

2. If sparking happens regularly, therefore, on the corresponding spark plug tension demanded VV moves. Having repeated check for the remained candle wires, make sure of serviceability of a condition of a cover and the runner of the distributor. Definition of a condition actually of spark plugs will be the following stage of check, - turn out them from a head of cylinders and address material of appropriate section of the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance.
3. In the absence of sparking, or its excessively weak intensity should check a cover and the runner of the distributor, and also connecting VV of a wire for existence of signs of oxidation and mechanical damages (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). In case of identification of traces of moisture wipe components of system of ignition and repeat check.
4. If during survey of the distributor and an electrical wiring it is not possible to reveal any violations, disconnect the central VV a wire (from the coil) from a cover of the distributor of ignition and connect it to the universal measuring instrument (candle wires should be connected to spark plugs), then repeat check. If this time sparking takes place, replace a cover and the runner of the distributor (also the probability of damage of VV of an electrical wiring is not excluded).
5. If there is still no spark, remove VV the wire going from the coil to the distributor and check a condition of its contact plugs. By means of an ohmmeter check a wire for existence of signs of break. It will be reasonable to replace for the period of further check a wire obviously serviceable.

6. If replacement of a wire does not lead to restoration of serviceability of sparking, check serviceability of giving of tension for the coil from the ignition switch at turn of a key in position of ON (do not start the engine). Connect a lamp sampler on 12 V to the negative plug of the battery, or reliably grounded element on the engine block. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the coil and check presence of tension of the battery on the plug of a white-green wire of the contact socket. If tension is absent, check a condition of an electrical wiring on the site of a chain between the coil and the switch of ignition.

7. If food on the coil moves regularly, connect a lamp sampler on a light-emitting diode to the positive plug of the battery. Connect the contact probe of a lamp to the plug of a light green wire in the coil electrical wiring socket, then turn the engine a starter, - the lamp has to blink at a provorachivaniye of the engine. This check allows to make sure of serviceability of receipt of a trigger signal (a grounding signal) from RSM and the power transistor. If the trigger signal takes place, therefore, RSM, the sensor of position of the camshaft and the power transistor function regularly.

 In order to avoid risk of failure of RSM use during this check only a lamp sampler on a light-emitting diode!

8. At identification of signs of violation of giving of a trigger signal check a condition of the resistance-capacitance assembly and the power transistor (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of the Power Transistor (models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue)).

 The socket of the resistance-capacitance assembly is attached by an adhesive tape to an electrical wiring plait directly to the left of the ignition distributor. If the transistor and the resistor as it should be, you pass to check of the sensor of position of the camshaft (see the Head of the Control system of the engine).

9. At correct receipt of supply voltage and a trigger signal lack of sparking can be explained with internal malfunctions in the ignition coil, - perform measurement of resistance of its primary and secondary windings (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Coils of Ignition). In case of identification of signs of breaks, replace the coil.
10. If the executed checks confirm serviceability of functioning and a condition of all listed above components, it is necessary to drive away the car on car repair shop for performing diagnostics of RSM.


Models since 1995 of the issue.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If the engine is turned, but not started, it is necessary to make sure of serviceability of giving of tension of the battery on spark plugs. Remove the coil (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Coils of Ignition) and connect the calibrated ignition tester to a candle tip (do not forget to connect an electrical wiring to the coil), ground a tester on the mass of the power unit. Turn the engine, - between an electrode of a tester and its case the bright blue spark of good intensity has to slip.

2. If sparking happens regularly, therefore, on the corresponding spark plug tension demanded VV moves (working in a similar manner, serially check each of candles). Definition of a condition actually of spark plugs will be the following stage of check, - turn out them from a head of cylinders and address material of appropriate section of the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance.

3. In the absence of sparking, or its excessively weak intensity remove a candle tip and check a condition of its contact plugs. By means of an ohmmeter check a tip for existence of signs of break. Make sure of serviceability of giving of tension of the battery on the coil from the ignition switch (a key in position of ON, the engine is not started). Connect a lamp sampler on 12 V to the negative plug of the battery, or mass of the engine and make sure of serviceability of food on the coil socket plug No. 1 (a red wire). If tension of the battery is absent, check a condition of an electrical wiring between the coil, the ECCS relay and the switch of ignition. Also check serviceability of grounding (see the Head Onboard electric equipment).

4. If battery tension on the coil takes place, connect a lamp sampler on a light-emitting diode to the positive plug of the battery and test the socket plug No. 3, - at an engine provorachivaniye the lamp has to blink. This check allows to make sure of serviceability of receipt of a trigger signal (a grounding signal) from RSM and the power transistor. If the trigger signal takes place, therefore, RSM and sensors of provision of shaft function regularly.

 In order to avoid risk of failure of RSM use during this check only a lamp sampler on a light-emitting diode!

5. At identification of signs of violation of giving of a trigger signal check a condition of capacitor assembly.

 The socket of capacitor assembly is attached by an adhesive tape to an electrical wiring plait directly on a transmission case. If the condenser as it should be, you pass to check of sensors of provision of cranked and distributive shaft (see the Head of the Control system of the engine).

6. At correct receipt of supply voltage and a trigger signal lack of sparking can be explained with internal malfunctions in the ignition coil (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Coils of Ignition). In case of identification of signs of malfunction replace the coil.
7. If the executed checks confirm serviceability of functioning and a condition of all listed above components, it is necessary to drive away the car on car repair shop for performing diagnostics of RSM.
