Check of a state and replacement of the battery

 The negative wire always has to be disconnected from the battery first of all and be connected in the last!

At shutdown of the battery there is a loss of RSM of working parameters brought in memory that can lead to a certain violation of stability of turns of idling the first minutes after start of the engine.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 Check makes sense only if the battery is completely, or is almost completely charged. Disconnect from the battery both wires (at first negative).

The negative wire always has to be disconnected first of all and be connected in the last.

1. If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for introduction of the equipment to action!

a. Check of level of a charge of the battery. Visually estimate brightness of a color spot of the indicator which is built in in the top part of the battery (if that is provided). If the spot has dark color, make recharge of the battery (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). On the batteries which are subject to service it is necessary to remove special covers and to check electrolyte level in banks, - liquid has to hide the upper edges of lamels completely. In case of need add necessary amount of the distilled water in the relevant banks. Try not to pour more liquid, than it is really necessary as it can lead to replacement of electrolyte at the raised loads of the engine. For determination of density of the electrolyte which is filled in in banks use the areometer. Uncover and soak up electrolyte test in the measured capacity of the device. Determine the specific weight of electrolyte in each of battery cans by the provision of a float of the measured camera (follow instructions of manufacturers of the device). Density of electrolyte of completely charged battery has to make 1.270 units (a green zone of a measured scale). At excessively low specific weight (a red zone of a scale) it is necessary to make recharge of the battery (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
b. Check of tension of an open contour. Prepare the digital voltmeter.

 Before starting voltage measurement it is necessary to remove a superficial charge from the battery for what it is necessary to turn on driving beam for 10 seconds, then to switch off headlights and to wait about two more minutes.

At the killed engine and the disconnected consumers of the electric power connect the negative probe of the voltmeter to a negative pole of the battery, then positive – to a positive pole. At the serviceable battery the device has to register the indication not lower than 12 V, otherwise, before passing to further checks, it is necessary to make recharge of the battery (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
c. Check of tension developed by the battery under loading. Adequately it is impossible to estimate a battery condition without conducting this check. Prepare the special universal measuring instrument (see an accompanying illustration). The device allows to estimate ability of the battery to a provorachivaniye of a starter and production of necessary energy at the raised loads of the engine. Connect the measuring instrument to plugs of the battery and follow instructions of manufacturers of the device. Imitation of loading is made at the expense of the coal core which is built in in the measuring instrument. Having sustained loading within about 15 seconds, consider instrument reading - tension should not fall lower than 9.6 Century.

 The developed battery tension in direct ratio depends on temperature. Correction of results is made according to the special card of states which is usually attached in a set to the device. The minimum admissible value at a temperature of 0 °C makes about 9.1 Century.

d. Check on existence of currents of leaks. Make sure. That all onboard consumers of the electric power are switched off. If the car is equipped with a lamp of illumination of a motive compartment, make sure of serviceability of its functioning, then disconnect a lamp. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery and connect instead of it one of lamp sampler plugs. Connect the second plug to a tip of a negative wire, - inclusion of a lamp demonstrates existence of the current of leak conducting to the category of the battery.

 On the models equipped with the processor of control of a condition of the power unit, the digital watch, the electric drive of correction of the provision of seats with the memorable module, or other devices which are consumers of the electric power at the switched-off ignition the weak luminescence of a lamp sampler is admissible. In the presence of suspicions replace a lamp sampler with leakages of current with the ampermeter - the result of measurement should not make more than 50 мА.

REPLACEMENT

1. Disconnect from the battery both wires (at first negative).

2. Release coupling nuts and remove a level of fastening of the battery on the pallet.

3. Remove the battery from the pallet.

 Special brackets with handles are issued. Use of such brackets significantly simplifies the procedure of extraction of the battery from a motive compartment.

4. Attentively examine the pallet on existence of traces of corrosion.

5. In case of need give fixture and take the pallet from a motive compartment for the purpose of removal of corrosion products from it and carrying out the corresponding protective metal working (use primers on a zinc basis).

6. When replacing track that the replaceable battery corresponded on the performance data to requirements of your car.
7. Installation is made upside-down.
