Check of a state and replacement of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid of the engine (EST)

The eats sensor also represents a thermistor (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of the Sensor of Temperature of the Soaked-up Air (IAT)). On models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue the sensor is placed in the inlet branch pipe of water passing behind the ignition distributor on models since 1995 by the issue - in a final branch pipe behind the left (lobby) head of cylinders. Change of resistance of the sensor exerts direct impact on amplitude of the signal given them on RSM. At the same time, with REDUCTION of temperature resistance of the sensor INCREASES and vice versa. RSM uses information issued by the sensor when determining working temperature of the engine. The refusal eats sensor/violation in its electric chain is led to record in the block of memory of system of self-diagnostics of the corresponding code (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 Implementation of the procedure described below can lead to entering in memory of OBD of malfunction which will be highlighted by a control lamp "Check the engine". Upon completion of check and the corresponding recovery repair do not forget to clear memory of system (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

1. Before starting directly assessment of a condition of the sensor, make sure of serviceability of giving of food on it from RSM and in lack of signs of violations of grounding. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the eats sensor and connect the voltmeter to two plugs of the socket from a plait. Include ignition (the engine do not start), - the measuring instrument has to issue the indication 5.0 B, otherwise check a condition of an electrical wiring on the site of a chain between the sensor and RSM. If a chain as it should be, drive away the car on car repair shop for performing diagnostics of a condition of RSM and performance of the corresponding recovery repair.
2. At the switched-off ignition disconnect an electrical wiring from the eats sensor and by means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between two plugs of the socket of the sensor at the cold engine. Restore initial connection of an electrical wiring, start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature. Again disunite the socket and repeat measurement of resistance. Compare results of two measurements to the schedule of temperature dependence of the sensor. The faulty sensor is subject to replacement.

 Thinner check of a condition of the eats sensor can be made out of the car and creation of the full schedule of temperature dependence by lowering in the water which is warmed up on fire.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 Before starting implementation of the procedure, wait for full cooling of the engine.

1. Before installation of the new sensor wind its carving part with the teflon film / tape FUM.
2. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor and turn out it from the corresponding branch pipe of a path of the cooling system. As soon as possible (for the purpose of minimization of losses of liquid) screw to the place of the removed sensor new and strongly tighten it.
3. Check the level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). Start the engine, warm up it up to the normal working temperature and check for existence of signs of leaks. After cooling of the engine check the level of its cooling liquid again.
