Check of a state and replacement of the sensor of temperature of fuel of speed of the movement of the car (VSS)

Since 1995 the issue is included in the package of some models the fuel temperature sensor. The sensor serves for measurement of temperature of the fuel which is in a gasoline tank and is a thermistor which resistance changes in inverse proportion to temperature. The sensor is fixed on the assembly of the sensor of fuel consumption placed in a tank. Information arriving from the sensor is used by RSM in the diagnostic purposes. Failures of the sensor lead to record in memory of OBD of the corresponding code of malfunction (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Implementation of the procedure described below can lead to entering in memory of OBD of malfunction which will be highlighted by a control lamp "Check the engine". Upon completion of check and the corresponding recovery repair do not forget to clear memory of system (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

1. Remove a back seat and a cover of access to assembly of the fuel pump / sensor of fuel consumption (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
2. Make sure of serviceability of giving to the food fuel temperature sensor. Disconnect an electrical wiring from assembly of the sensor of a consumption/temperature of fuel. Connect the positive probe of the voltmeter to the plug of a pink-blue wire the socket, negative - to the plug of a black wire. At the included ignition instrument reading has to make 5.0 B, otherwise check a condition of an electrical wiring on sites of a chain between the sensor and RSM/weight. If conducting as it should be, drive away the car on car repair shop for performing diagnostics of the module of management and performance of the corresponding recovery repair.

3. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between two plugs of the sensor of temperature of fuel. At the room temperature (20 °C) resistance of the sensor has to make 2300 ÷ 2700 Ohm. More exact check of serviceability of functioning of the sensor can be made by its removal from the car and lowering in the vessel which is warmed up on fire with water. Compare results of measurements to the card of change of resistance. The faulty sensor is subject to replacement.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Take from a tank assembly of the sensor of fuel consumption (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
2. Remove the fuel temperature sensor from assembly.
3. Installation is made upside-down.
