Check of serviceability of a state, replacement and adjustment of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve (TPS)

The representing potentiometer of variable resistance of TPS fastens on the case of a throttle and is connected to an axis of a butterfly valve. On the basis of the analysis of the signals of RSM arriving from TPS defines the exact current position of the gate caused by extent of squeezing by the driver of the accelerator pedal. A sensor exit out of operation can lead to uncontrollable emissions by injectors of fuel and violation of stability of turns of the engine. At identification of malfunctions of TPS in memory of system of self-diagnostics the corresponding code of malfunction is brought (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions). On the majority of models the terminal sensor switch of an open/closed position of a butterfly valve which at the corresponding moments is carrying out short circuit of predelenny electric contours is a part of TPS.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Implementation of the procedure described below can lead to entering in memory of OBD of malfunction which will be highlighted by a control lamp "Check the engine". Upon completion of check and the corresponding recovery repair do not forget to clear memory of system (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

1. Before starting directly check of TPS make sure of serviceability of giving of food from RSM to TPS and lack of violations of grounding. Disconnect an electrical wiring from TPS and connect the positive probe of the voltmeter to the plug of green-black (1993 and 1994) / red (since 1995) plait wires in the contact socket. Connect the negative probe to the plug of a black wire. At the included ignition (do not start the engine) the device has to register about 5.0 V. Otsutstviye of tension demonstrates break in a chain of RSM or failure actually of the module (in the latter case the car should be driven away on car repair shop for the purpose of performing diagnostics of the module of management and performance of the corresponding recovery repair).

2. For check of serviceability of functioning of TPS connect an ohmmeter to plugs No. 2 and No. 3 of the sensor. Measure TPS resistance in completely closed position of a throttle, then begin to slightly open gradually the gate, watching change of resistance of the sensor. On models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue the indication of the measuring instrument has to change from 1.0 kOhm at completely closed gate to 9.0 kOhm at completely open. On models since 1995 of the issue - from 0.5 kOhm to 4.0 kOhm respectively. Increase in resistance has to happen smoothly.

3. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the terminal sensor switch which is opened/closed provisions of a butterfly valve. Connect an ohmmeter to plugs No. No. 5 and 6 of the socket of the sensor. Make sure available conductivity of the sensor switch to completely closed gate, then slightly slightly open the last. At the open gate conductivity has to be absent, otherwise replace TPS assembly.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for introduction of the equipment to action!

2. Remove an inlet air duct (see the Head of the Power supply system and release) and disconnect an electrical wiring from TPS and the terminal sensor switch of a butterfly valve.
3. Turn out two fixing screws and remove assembly of TPS from the throttle case.
4. Install the new sensor on the regular place and freely screw fixing screws.
5. Execute adjustment of TPS (see below), then finally tighten fixture.

ADJUSTMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove an inlet air duct (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
2. Weaken screws of fastening of assembly of TPS on the throttle case.
3. On the models equipped with the terminal sensor switch completely opened/closed provisions of the gate disconnect from the last an electrical wiring and connect an ohmmeter according to the instructions stated in paragraph 4. enter an edge of the measuring probe 0.3 mm thick between the lever of a butterfly valve and its persistent screw, - the device has to register conductivity existence. Now enter an edge 0.4 mm thick into a gap, - this time the chain has to be opened. Rotation of TPS achieve the required result, then strongly tighten fixing screws.

Do not touch the persistent screw of the lever of a butterfly valve at all, - it has factory installation and is not subject to adjustment!

4. On models without terminal sensor switch of a butterfly valve probe the voltmeter the return ends of plugs of white and black wires on TPS electrical wiring plait socket (try not to damage plugs at input of probes, - for more details see in the Head Onboard electric equipment). At the included ignition (the engine do not start) and at completely closed throttle the device has to register the indication in the range about 0.4 ÷ 0.5 B, otherwise make the corresponding adjustment by TPS assembly rotation, then strongly tighten fixing screws.
