Check of a state and replacement of VV of candle wires, cover and runner of the distributor

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check of a condition of VV of wires has to be made every time when replacing spark plugs (see the Section Check of a State and Replacement of Spark Plugs).
2. Check begins with external survey of isolation of wires at the working engine. Drive the car into the dark, well ventilated room, start the engine and make sure of lack of sparking on wires. Sparking is an isolation breakdown sign. Try not to touch moving components in a motive compartment. Make necessary marks on replacement of defective wires, then let's the engine cool down and start checks of a condition of a cover and the runner of the distributor of ignition.
3. Check of candle wires is made serially in order to avoid violation of an order of their connection at assembly. Usually on isolation of company wires there is the corresponding marking. In case of absence that, put it independently by means of an adhesive tape and a marker.
4. Disconnect VV a wire from a spark plug (best of all use the special tool). Do not pull for a wire, only for its tip at all.
5. Examine internal walls of a tip. Corrosion is usually shown in the form of a fragile korkoobrazny raid of white color.
6. Pull a tip back on a shaft of the candle, make sure of density of its landing. In case of need again remove a tip and as appropriate turn in plugs in a rubber cover.
7. Wipe with pure rags a wire on all its length, having completely removed traces of dirt and lubricant from the surface of isolation. Examine isolation of a wire on existence of cracks, traces of a progar and other damages. Try not to bend a wire under acute angles in order to avoid violation of integrity of veins of the conductor in isolation.

8. Disconnect a wire from the distributor, - again pull only for a tip, but not for a wire. Check a tip for existence of signs of corrosion, estimate density of landing it on the plug. Again connect a wire to the distributor.

9. Working in a similar manner, serially check a condition of all remained candle wires. Make sure of reliability of their connection to candles and plugs of the distributor.
10. In need of performance of replacement of VV of wires track that replaceable wires corresponded on the standard size to parameters of the engine of your car. In company shops of automobile accessories and service centers of the company it is always possible to get sets of VV of the wires, ready to the use, cut on length and equipped with tips. Remove and replace wires serially in order to avoid violation of an order of ignition.

11. Having turned out fixing screws, uncover the distributor and attentively examine it both outside, and from within on existence of cracks, coal paths, traces of a progar, weakening of contact connections and other damages.

12. Having pulled up, remove the runner from a shaft of the distributor and examine it on existence of cracks and coal paths. Make replacement of defective components.

13. Good practice is replacement of a cover and the runner of the distributor of ignition regardless of their state every time at installation of new VV of wires. When using old components carefully smooth out the contact surfaces of their plugs and measure the resistive resistance of wires and a roof (see Specifications to the present Chapter).
14. At installation of a new cover of the distributor transfer to it from old VV of a wire, connecting them it is strict in a former order, - try not to disconnect all wires at the same time, you transfer them serially.

The order of ignition is specified in Specifications at the beginning of the present Chapter. On the majority of models the protective ledge (facing) of the plug of connection of a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a cover of the distributor is appropriately marked.
