Check of a state, adjustment of effort of a tension and replacement of a driving belt

CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Driving belts are located in a forward part of the power unit and play an important role in functioning of the engine and many other systems of the car. Eventually belts wear out and have to look round regularly according to the schedule of routine maintenance of the car in order to avoid serious engine failures which correction of consequences can cost the owner of the car kopek. On models of early years of release three driving belts (multicostal and V-shaped [wedge-shaped] type) are used. On models since 1995 the issue provided only two multicostal belts. Belts are used for the drive of such auxiliary units as the generator, steering and water pumps, and also (at the corresponding complete set of the car) the air conditioner compressor.

2. Kill the engine, open a cowl and find driving belts. Highlighting itself a small lamp, fingers feel belts on all their length, checking for existence of cracks and stratifications. Inadmissibly also presence on a belt of attritions, zapolirovanny to gloss of sites and other obvious defects. Examine belts on both sides for what overwind them. Defective belts are subject to replacement without fail.

3. Check a condition of edges on the lower party of belts, - they have to have identical depth in the absence of deformation signs.

4. Assessment of effort of a tension of a belt can be made by a nazhimaniye on it by a hand thumb on the site in the middle between two next pulleys. Pressing has to be rather firm. The parameter characterizing effort of a tension of a belt is the size of its deflection at a nazhimaniye. As a rule, if pulleys defend from each other at distance from 180 to 280 mm, the size of a deflection has to make 6.4 mm, to distance between pulleys in 305 - 405 mm there corresponds the deflection in 12.5 mm - for a wedge-shaped belt, and 6.4 mm - for multicostal.

5. On models of early years of release one belt is used for the drive of the water and steering pump. The effort of a tension of this belt is controlled by a special tension roller, access to which is open only from below. The second, shorter belt puts the generator in action. Adjustment of a tension of this belt is made by updating of the provision of generating assembly. The longest belt puts the K/V compressor in action and is equipped with the tension roller established in the top part of the unit. On release models since 1995 only two multicostal driving belts, adjustment of a tension of one of which is made by the shift of assembly of the steering pump, are provided, the second is equipped with the top tension roller.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. For replacement weaken effort of a tension of a belt (see above) and throw off it from the pulleys. For replacement of an internal belt it is necessary to remove previously external, - track correctness of landing them in streams of pulleys.

It will be most correct to make replacement of all driving belts at the same time.

2. Upon purchase of new belts take with yourself old as samples - replaceable belts have to correspond strictly removed from the car on a standard size.
3. Upon completion of replacement adjust a tension of new belts (see above).
