Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the block of the sensor of the measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid

Start implementation of the procedure only after full cooling of the engine! See also preventions at the beginning of the Section Antifreeze - general information. Remember that at the included ignition the fan of the cooling system can work even at the killed engine.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The system of indication of temperature of cooling liquid consists of the measuring instrument which is built in in an instrument guard and the information sensor placed on the engine. On the car several CTS sensors are provided, however, in system of indication only one of them is used.

2. If at unambiguously cold engine the measuring instrument fixes an overheat, check an electrical wiring on the site of a chain between an instrument guard and the block of the sensor for existence of signs of short circuit on weight.
3. If the measuring instrument does not function at all (the arrow remains motionless even after 10-minute warming up of the engine) at serviceable safety locks, kill the engine and disconnect an electrical wiring from temperature sensor. By means of a wire crossing point close a sensor wire on weight. For a short time include ignition, without starting the engine. If the arrow of the indicator deviates until the end of a scale, replace the sensor.
4. For check of the sensor disconnect from it an electrical wiring and connect an ohmmeter between the probe in the top part of the sensor and the mass of the power unit. At slightly heated-up engine (about 60 °C) the indication of an ohmmeter has to make about 70 ÷ of 90 Ohms for models till 1998 of the issue and 170 ÷ 200 Ohms for models of 1999 of the issue. After warming up of the engine up to the temperature of 100 °C instrument reading has to fall to value (21 ÷ 24) / (47 ÷ 53) Ohm respectively, otherwise replace temperature sensor.

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Turn out the sensor from the engine (prepare for collecting the spilled liquid) and quickly establish on its place new which carving previously grease with conducting sealant (not a teflon tape or the film FUM). In conclusion check the level of cooling liquid.
