Removal and installation of a radiator and expanded tank of the cooling system

Do not start performing procedures before full cooling of the engine. See also preventions at the beginning of the Section Antifreeze - general information.

Broad tank

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. On models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue the broad tank is located in the left corner of a motive compartment and fixed near the battery. Since 1995 the tank is postponed for the opposite side of a motive compartment, - in the right forward corner.

2. Disconnect a hose from the top part of a radiator and press it. On models 1993 and 1994 of of the issue turn out a fixing bolt and remove a broad tank. On models since 1995 the tank is just vertically extended by the issue from a basic arm.

3. Merge cooling liquid in specially prepared capacity.
4. By means of the bottle brush wash out a tank outside and from within, then attentively examine it on existence of cracks and other mechanical damages. In case of detection of defects, and also at impossibility of reading of level of liquid through translucent walls, a tank is subject to replacement.

Do not use the brush used when cleaning a broad tank for washing of drinking ware at all!

5. Installation is made upside-down.

Radiator

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

2. Cock the parking brake and prop up antiretractable boots back wheels. A car front also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
3. Empty the cooling system (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). If replacement of cooling liquid was made recently, keep for further use (see the prevention in the Section Antifreeze - general information).

4. The scheme of installation of a radiator in a motive compartment is given in an illustration.

5. On models with AT disconnect from a radiator of the line of a path of cooling of ATF. Prepare for collecting the spilled liquid, at once a zakuporta the open ends of tubes and unions.

6. Release collars and disconnect from a radiator both (top and lower) hoses. If hoses "stuck" to connecting branch pipes, use nippers, or a knife (with the subsequent replacement of hoses). Try not to damage connecting branch pipes. Also disconnect the thin overflow hose going to a broad tank from a radiator.
7. Remove the cooling system fan(s) (see the Section Check of a Condition of Fans of the Cooling System and Chains of Their Inclusion; replacement of components).

8. Otboltite small arms of fastening of a radiator to the top basic beam.

9. Take assembly of a radiator from a motive compartment. Be careful, - do not cut fingers about keen edges of plates of the heat exchanger, try not to spill cooling liquid on the painted body surfaces.
10. After removal from the car the radiator can be checked for existence of signs of leaks, damages and violations of internal passability of the heat exchanger. Any repair has to be made only in the conditions of a specialized workshop with use of the necessary equipment.
11. Remains of insects and vegetation can be removed from space between heat exchanger plates by blowing by compressed air (do not forget to put on goggles!), or cleaning out by a soft brush. Try not to bend thin plates of the heat exchanger and not to cut about them fingers. Before installation the radiator has to be washed out by giving in water by means of a garden hose.
12. Check a condition of rubber support of a radiator, in case of need make replacement of the failed components.
13. Installation is made upside-down. Track correctness of placement of a radiator on the support.
14. On completion of installation fill in cooling liquid of the required structure in system, release from a path air traffic jams (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
15. Start the engine and check it for existence of signs of leaks. Warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature (both hoses of a radiator have to become hot to the touch). Check the level of cooling liquid, in case of need add the corresponding amount of mix of the required structure.
16. On models with AT check the ATF level, in case of need execute the corresponding adjustment.
