Removal and installation of heads of cylinders

Before getting to work, wait for final cooling of the engine.



1. Empty the cooling system, including the engine block, (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance). Take off a gas-distributing belt, cogwheels of the GRM drive and a back cover of a belt (see the Section Removal and installation of a gas-distributing belt and cogwheels of the GRM drive). Also turn out bolts of fastening of tubes of a cooling path to a back part of each of heads of cylinders (from transmission) on face plates of camshafts.
2. Remove the inlet pipeline (see the Section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline) and take aside injection injectors with the electrical wiring connected to them.
3. Remove assemblies of yokes (see the Section Removal, check of a state and installation of assembly of yokes) and pushers of valves (see the Section Removal and installation of camshafts and pushers of valves).
4. Remove final collectors (see the Section Removal and installation of final collectors).
5. Mark and disconnect all hoses and wires passing from the party of the power unit turned towards the GRM drive.

Forward head (from a radiator)


1. Turn out spark plugs, remove the distributor and the coil (see the Head Elektrooborudovaniye of the engine).
2. Remove the compressor of the conditioner of air from the arm and take him aside, without disconnecting refrigerator lines (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating). Tie up the compressor a wire so that hoses of refrigerator lines were not tense.

Access to the top bolts of fastening of the compressor opens only after assembly shift aside.

3. Remove an arm of the compressor and generator.
4. Remove a fastening arm to a head of cylinders of the directing tube of the measuring probe.

Back head (from a partition of a motive compartment)


Disconnect hoses of a heating path and their arms from the party of a head of cylinders turned to transmission.

Both heads


1. In stages (on 1/4 turns for approach) weaken bolts of fastening of a head so that the possibility of their reversing manually appeared. Act as it should be, the return shown on an illustration and having begun with the small bolt located from the outer side of a head.

2. Remove the washers enclosed under heads of bolts. All bolts, except small mentioned above are subject to replacement without fail.

Washers can be reused.

3. Remove a head of cylinders from the engine block. In case of need tap them the hammer through wooden whetstone. If there is a need for a poddevaniye of the "stuck" head the lever, try not to damage the interfaced surface.



1. Remove old laying of heads of cylinders. The interfaced surfaces of heads and the block have to absolutely pure and dry.

2. Having scratched out the remains of material build laying and coal deposits, wipe surfaces with the rags moistened in acetone. Existence on the interfaced surfaces of traces of oil at the time of installation of a head can lead to violation of tightness of landing of laying and, as a result, development of leaks. Processing the block, a zakuporta of an opening of cylinders rags in order to avoid hit in them small garbage and various foreign objects (as a last resort, carefully vacuum cylinders).
3. Check the interfaced surfaces of heads and the block for existence of deep scratches, zadir and other damages. Easy defects can be eliminated by means of a fine-grained emery paper. In more serious cases the only alternative is the pro-point of components, or their replacement.
4. A tap of the suitable size banish carving openings under bolts of fastening of heads. Having finished a pro-race, blow openings compressed air. Serially clamping bolts in a vice for a head, walk on their carving lerky, - existence in rounds of a carving of old sealant, dirt and products of corrosion results in discrepancy of real effort of tightening of fixture to indications of the indicator of a dynamometer key.

During the work with the reaped air do not forget to put on goggles!

5. Lay new sealing laying, putting on them the directing pins in the block.

6. Trying not to displace laying, accurately put heads on the block.
7. Grease a carving and the lower surfaces of heads of new fixing bolts with pure motive oil. Screw fixture on the places and tighten bolts by hand.

Do not forget to enclose under heads of bolts of a washer. Washers keep within the party equipped with a facet up and flat - to a head.

8. Working in strictly certain order, tighten bolts of fastening of heads of cylinders with the required effort (everything, except small external).

Bolts 4, 5, 12 and 13 are longer than the others!

9. Tighten small bolts (on one from the outer side of each of heads) with effort of 9 ÷ 12 Nanometers.
10. Further assembly is made as it should be the return to an order of dismantle of components.
11. Do not forget to fill the cooling system and to replace motive oil and an oil filter (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
12. Start the engine and check it for existence of signs of leak of oil and cooling liquid. Estimate correctness of installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
