Elements of security systems of the car

General information

The cars considered in the present manual are equipped a complex of the means intended for protection of the driver and passengers in case of the road accident. Here the seat belts established on all seats of the car and the other devices which are effectively supplementing belts enter.

Some components of a security system, being an integral part of a design of the car, do not require additional attention from the owner of the vehicle. The strong steel frame forming a design of a cabin in which the salon is located belongs to their number; the forward and back zones of deformation absorbing energy of blow at collision; the safety steering column developing at blow; and also devices of an automatic tension of seat belts (an additional complete set) which automatically carry out a tension of belts in case of blow.

Seat belts

General information


The fastened and correctly adjusted seat belts protect the driver and passengers from possible injuries in case of the road accidents or considerably reduce their weight. Nissan convincingly recommends to drivers and passengers to be fastened always by seat belts before a start of motion even if the place of sitting is supplied with an inflatable safety cushion. In some countries and regions to fasten seat belts during the movement is strictly obligatory.

Seat belts are designed so that evenly to distribute load of a body of the person. The lumbar section of a belt has to cover top of hips sitting, humeral is thrown through a breast and a shoulder. The wrong fastening of belts considerably increases risk of receiving severe injuries in road incidents.

It is not allowed to modify or change at all a design of seat belts as it can create hindrances to functioning of the mechanism of adjustment of sagging of a belt.

Seat belts for ensuring efficiency of their protective function should be adjusted taking into account comfort, but whenever possible hardly. The weakened belt considerably reduces efficiency of protection of sitting.

It is necessary to avoid hit on a cloth of belts of the polishing substances, oil, chemicals and especially accumulator acid. It is possible to clean belts soft soap solution. In case of wear, strong pollution or damage of a cloth belts should be replaced.

It is strongly recommended to replace all set of the seat belts which experienced strong shock influence in the road accident even if belts were not damaged explicitly.

You watch that seat belts were not overwound.

The set of seat belts of one seat has to be used only by one person. It is not allowed to fasten a belt of the child sitting on a lap the passenger.

Use of seat belts during the movement is strictly obligatory both for the driver, and for all passengers. In transit children of chest and younger age use special children's seats.

After collision of the car as a result of road incident even if force of blow was insignificant, all sets of belts, including inertial drums and fixing designs, have to have technical inspection on HUNDRED Nissans. Nissan recommends to replace all sets of the belts which experienced shock strain at collision of the car if only collision was not rather weak, there are no traces of damages and belts continue to function regularly. The sets of seat belts installed in the car, but which were not used at the time of collision need also to be checked and replaced in case of detection of damages or malfunction.

After operation the device of a tension of belts is not subject to reuse. It needs to be replaced together with an inertial drum, - address on company car repair shop.

The car is equipped with five seats and five sets of seat belts - two on front seats and three on back seats. All people who are in the car during the movement have to be fastened by seat belts.

The humeral section of a belt has to pass over a shoulder and a thorax. It is not allowed to pass it near at hand. The wrong fastening of belts considerably increases risk of receiving severe injuries in road incidents.

Do not pass lumbar section of a belt over a waist at all!

Children of advanced age have to be fastened by standard seat belts. According to the statistics of road incidents, it is safer to children to sit on a back seat, than on forward. If the shoulder strap passes too close to a face or the child's neck, then it is recommended to use a special additional seat which can be got separately. It is intended for the child's raising so that the shoulder strap laid down exactly on the middle of a shoulder, and zone — on hips. The additional seat has to be compatible to the established seat. If after time it turns out that the shoulder strap does not pass close from the face any more and the child's necks when he sits on the main seat, then it is necessary to refuse an additional seat. It is not allowed to allow children to stand on the feet or on a lap, or to be in a cargo compartment during the movement of the car.

Pregnant women also have to use seat belts. You can receive special recommendations at the attending physician. The zone belt needs to be fastened so that it did not disturb and was as low as possible on hips.

In transit the injured passengers should be laid a seat belt taking into account the nature of damage. Consult at the attending physician.

Maintenance of seat belts


For cleaning of a cloth of belts use a brush and the soft soap solution or any solution recommended for cleaning of an upholstery and carpets. After cleaning wipe belts with a rag and let's dry in a shadow. Do not allow taking-up of belts before their full drying.

Periodically you examine a cloth of belts and metal details: buckles, uvula, inertial coil, flexible conducting and fixing bolts. At detection of attritions, deformations, cuts and other damages of a cloth it is necessary to replace all set of belts.

Fastening


1. Adjust the provision of a seat. It is not necessary to incline a seatback more, than it is necessary for ensuring the comfort sitting. Seat belts work most effectively when the back of sitting is located vertically and densely pressed to a seatback. It is necessary to avoid an excessive inclination of a back as in this case there is a danger of slipping of the belt sitting under lumbar section in case of the road accident.
2. Slowly extend a belt from a casing of the returnable mechanism, throw its sections through pelvic and chest departments of a trunk and latch a bracket uvula in the buckle lock. The design of the returnable device stops an inertial drum at the overloads arising during sharp braking or collision. At the same time, at a slow pulling the drum is rotated without hindrances and the belt does not constrain freedom of the movement sitting.

3. Place zone section of a belt below on hips, having tightened humeral section, allow the returnable mechanism to choose a belt weak point. Make sure that the humeral section passes over a shoulder, but not through a neck. Remember that the belt should not be overwound.


Unfastening


To undo a belt, press the button on a buckle. After a lock otpuskaniye the belt is automatically taken up on a drum of the returnable device.

Check of serviceability of functioning and adjustment of seat belts


1. The design of the returnable device provides blocking of a belt in two cases:

a) When the belt is quickly taken up from a drum;
b) When there is a sharp braking of the car.
2. Grasp humeral section of a belt and sharply pull, - there has to be a blocking of the returnable device, otherwise it is necessary to address on car repair shop.

3. For updating of the provision of the top anchor of humeral section of a seat belt drown the button of a clamp and remove anchor knot on a guide in the necessary direction (up or down). Remember that the belt has to pass over a shoulder.


Instructions for use two-anchor seat belt of a back seat

Fastening


1. The average belt of a back seat has a two-anchor design. Latch a bracket uvula in the buckle lock with the inscription "CENTRE".

2. For lengthening of a belt extend it, holding a bracket at right angle to a tape of a belt. For shortening of a belt tighten the free end of a belt from a bracket aside and move the buckle for the purpose of selection слабин. Displace a belt down on hips.

d) Devices of an automatic emergency tension of seat belts of front seats (see above);
e) A control lamp of refusals of SRS, built in in the dashboard;
f) The spare independent power supply intended for duplication of the main power supply system in case of its exit out of operation at collision.

Safety cushions of the driver and passenger

General information


1. The system of additional safety of SRS better known as the safety cushions intended for protection of the driver and the forward passenger against heading or a breast about a steering wheel / dashboard in case of strong front blow is included in a basic equipment of some models.
2. Also side safety cushions providing protection of the driver and forward passenger at side blows can be included in the additional package.
3. The owner of the car equipped with the SRS system is obliged to know the most important data on a design and the principle of action of elements of system:

a) Existence of safety cushions cannot excuse negligence to use of seat belts at all. SRS has to be used only together with belts and other means of passive safety;
b) Forward safety cushions do not provide protection in case of side blow, and also at blow behind. Besides, operation of modules happens only at the directed blows of high intensity, i.e. the system does not provide protection at weak head-on collisions;
c) Side safety cushions do not provide protection in case of head-on collision and blow behind, besides, they work also only at excess by energy of side blow of some threshold of intensity that not always takes place at a car turning;
d) Operation of a safety cushion can put a trauma.
4. Effectively to execute the protective function, the safety cushion has to be developed from the put state in working for very short time. Therefore a safety cushion, protecting the driver / the forward passenger from heavy mutilations, in some cases saving their life, can become the traumatizing reason, and sometimes and serious mutilations up to a lethal outcome if the driver or the forward passenger were not properly fastened by seat belts or held emergency position on seats.
5. To reduce probability of traumatizing by a pillow, it is always necessary to be fastened by seat belts and to settle down on a seat on the greatest possible removal from a steering wheel / dashboard.

Principle of functioning of forward safety cushions


Sensors of the directed overloads react to excess of some extreme value which the overload at strong head-on collision can reach. On a signal of sensors the control unit includes gas generators of safety cushions, causing their instant filling.

 Also the probability of operation of forward safety cushions at arrival at a high speed on a border is not excluded, hit in a deep hollow or congress/falling from a ledge.


During collision the seat belt holds the lower part of the trunk sitting from shift. Forward safety cushions help to prevent traumatizing the driver and forward passenger as a result of blow by their head and a thorax about a steering wheel / dashboard.

As signals on operation of both safety cushions arrive from the same sensors, their initiation happens at the same time. However the probability of initiation of only one of pillows is not excluded. It becomes possible when the size of the directed overloads which arose at collision was on the verge of the range of operation of gas generators. In this case seat belts provide rather reliable protection of the driver and forward passenger while the effect of operation of a pillow is minimum.

Right after operation and performance by pillows of the functions gas from them is produced that allows the driver to keep visibility and to manipulate freely all governing bodies of the car.

The full duration of process takes with sensors of overloads before production of gas from pillows fractions of a second the moment of giving of a signal. Operation of pillows happens so quickly that the human ear simply is not capable to apprehend cotton of gas generators.

Side safety cushions

At the same time if the blow was come from the outside a passenger seat, the passenger side pillow will work even in the absence of the passenger.

For ensuring the greatest efficiency of protection which is provided by safety cushions the driver and the passenger sitting on a front seat have to hold vertical position and to be fastened by seat belts.

Automatic emergency natyazhitel of seat belts


On some models for the purpose of ensuring additional protection of the driver/passenger forward seat belts are supplied with devices which at operation provide an automatic tension of belts that helps to exclude a possibility of dangerous movements of the driver and passenger in case of the road accident.

Operation of automatic emergency natyazhitel happens at the directed overloads arising during strong head-on collision. Emission of forward safety cushions is at the same time made.

At operation of the device the seat belt remains in the tense situation until the bracket of its buckle is not taken out from the lock of the last.

Operation of a control lamp of systems of additional safety (SRS) warns the driver about possible malfunctions in devices of automatic emergency natyazhitel of belts.

Order of functioning of a control lamp of refusals of SRS

1. The control lamp of SRS is built in in an instrument guard of the car and intended for the warning of the driver of the refusals revealed by system of self-diagnostics in system of an additional security system. Maintenance of the SRS elements


Safety cushions and devices of an automatic emergency tension of seat belts, practically do not need regular checks and maintenance. However the owner of the vehicle equipped as appropriate has to mean the next moments:

a) After operation of safety cushions they are subject to obligatory replacement together with the system control unit. Do not try to dismantle the fulfilled pillows independently. These operations have to be carried out only in the conditions of a workshop of car service;
b) If operation of a control lamp of SRS indicates existence of refusal in system, it is necessary to address immediately on the nearest car repair shop of the Nissan company where full diagnostics and necessary recovery repair of system will be made. Otherwise safety cushions can not work at the road accident and not execute the protective function;
c) Only specially trained personnel are allowed to works with knots of an additional security system. It is forbidden to dismantle independently from the car of a safety cushion and emergency natyazhitel of seat belts. In case of refusal SRS or after emergency operation of safety cushions and natyazhitel of seat belts needs to address on car repair shop of the Nissan company for carrying out repair or replacement of knots of system;

Provision of seats and their backs


The design of seats of the car guarantees the maximum comfort to the person sitting in them, at the same time providing conditions of the most effective implementation of the functions with belts and safety cushions. Soft stuffing of pillows and backs provides additional protection sitting in emergencies.

Adjustment of provision of a seat also exerts impact on safety of the person sitting in it. For example, too close provision of a seat to a steering wheel / dashboard increases risk of traumatizing at operation of a safety cushion, and also risk of the ejection sitting through a windshield.

Increase in an inclination of a seatback will worsen fixing of a body a seat belt, - the more the back is inclined back, the probability of slipping of a body under zone section of a seat belt at strong front blow is higher, and the heavier can be traumatized.

Record the provision of a front seat in the situation, most remote from a steering wheel / dashboard, bring a back into vertical position.

Head restraints

Head restraints prevent traumatizing cervical department of a backbone and head at blow behind. The head restraint has to be adjusted on height so that its top cut was flush with the upper edge of the ear sitting.

Instructions for use means of passive safety of the driver and passengers

General information


The instructions stated below acquaint the reader with ways of ensuring the maximum protection of all people who are in the car.

Doors


After the driver and all passengers took the places in salon, be convinced that all doors of the car are densely closed.

The car is equipped with a special control lamp which lights up at leaky closing of one or several doors of the car.

Front seats


The driver sitting too close to the dashboard is exposed to the increased risk of traumatizing, up to receiving serious mutilations and a lethal outcome from blow about a steering wheel or at operation of a safety cushion, in case of the road accident.

In order to avoid risk of traumatizing, properly fasten a seat belt, bring a seatback into vertical position and densely nestle on it a back, having removed at this seat in the situation, most remote from a steering wheel. At the same time, certainly, the driver has to ensure the good review and a possibility of a convenient manipulation all governing bodies of the car. Make sure that the seat of the forward passenger is also most removed from the dashboard. Attention: Too close provision of seats of the driver and forward passenger to a steering wheel / dashboard in case of the road accident can lead to receiving serious injuries or even death.

Try to have always front seats on the maximum removal from modules of safety cushions.

The vast majority of drivers (even low growth) can remove most far a driver's seat from a steering wheel, freely reaching at the same time pedals. Adjust an inclination of a back of a driver's seat, having brought it into the most convenient for your constitution, as close as possible to vertical situation, having left at the same time sufficient space between a thorax and a nave of a steering wheel in which the safety cushion is built in. Remember that excessively close arrangement of the driver / the forward passenger to the dashboard considerably increases risk of getting injured at operation of safety cushions.

Too strong inclination of a seatback leads to the fact that the humeral section of a belt will not nestle on a thorax that in an essential measure reduces efficiency of protective functions of a belt. The more the seatback is inclined back, the probability of slipping of a body of the car sitting under lumbar section at strong front blow is higher, and the heavier can be traumatized.

Head restraints

Before a start of motion make sure that the provision of head restraints on each of seats conforms to necessary requirements, providing due protection of cervical department of the backbone and head sitting at blow behind. The head restraint has to be adjusted on height so that its central part was flush with a nape. If it does not manage to achieve, the head restraint should be established in extreme top situation.

The wrong provision of head restraints reduces efficiency of their protective functions and increases risk of receiving serious injuries as a result of the road accident.


Steering column

The steering column has to be adjusted so that steering wheel was opposite to a thorax of the driver. Situation at which the nave of a steering wheel is opposite to a face of the driver is wrong as reduces protective functions of the forward safety cushion which is built in in it.


Landing to a seat

After the driver and all passengers took the places in interior of the car, adjusted the provision of the seats and put on seat belts, they have to give the correct situation to the body, having densely nestled a back on a seatback and having firmly put legs on a floor of salon. Legs should not come off a floor up to a full stop of the car and switching off of the engine.

Violation of correctness of landing during the movement increases risk of getting injured as a result of the road accident. So, if passengers sit having bent, lie, turn in the parties, bend forward or sideways, get on a seat with legs, the risk of receiving serious mutilations by them as a result of accident considerably increases.

Besides, the forward passengers holding the wrong position on seats can suffer serious injuries from the parts of internal finishing of salon breaking as a result of emergency blow, or from operation of a forward safety cushion.

If on the car equipped with side safety cushions the head of the forward passenger during the movement is inclined sideways and is in an area of coverage of operation of a safety cushion, the risk of receiving by it extremely increases at accident of serious injuries and mutilations.

Try to observe the correct situation on a seat during all trip, holding a back densely pressed to a seatback and having put legs on a floor. Remember that vertical position of landing and competent use of seat belts increase efficiency of functioning of all elements of safety which equipped the car.

Danger of poisoning with monoxide of carbon (SO)


Toxic monoxide of carbon (SO) is a part of the fulfilled gases of the engine extremely. At serviceable final system and correct operation of the car, the fulfilled gases of the engine should not get to interior of the car. Try to check technical condition of system of production of the fulfilled gases and tightness of connections of its pipelines in the following cases:

a) At the next replacement of engine oil when the car is installed on the elevator;
b) At change of nature of the noise noticeable aurally published by final system;
c) After accident in which the details located under the car bottom could be damaged.

Monoxide of carbon is toxic gas. Inhalation WITH causes loss of consciousness and can lead to death. Be careful to be in the closed, not aired room or to perform works during which you will be forced to breathe the air containing carbon oxide in big concentration! In the closed rooms with bad ventilation, for example, in a garage concentration WITH can quickly increase to dangerous value. Therefore it is forbidden to leave the engine working at the closed garage gate (even at open gate do not leave the engine working long time). At once after implementation of start of the engine it is necessary to leave a garage and to continue warming up of the unit on the street.


At the movement with an open cover of the luggage compartment the fulfilled gases of the engine can get to interior of the car and create a dangerous situation. If closing of a cover for any reason is not possible, it is necessary to open completely all windows and to include system of ventilation and air conditioning

At stay in the car with the engine working at single turns (even on the open area), make the following inclusions:

a) Include system of ventilation of salon in the mode of inflow of fresh air;
b) Turn on the heater fan on the maximum speed;
c) Establish by the regulator the comfortable level of air temperature.
