Poddomkrachivaniye and towage


The jack which is included in a basic equipment of the car is intended only for performing procedures of change of wheels. When carrying out any other repair or scheduled maintenance the car should be lifted by means of hydraulic (or cart) a jack and it is obligatory to establish on the special props got under the bearing bottom points. If need for removal of wheels is absent, the car can be tired out on a viewing hole or a platform.

For a poddomkrachivaniye the car should be parked on a plain horizontal surface, whenever possible with a hard coating. In the presence of the slightest bias it is necessary will take care of precautionary measures against kickback: prop up the wheel located on diagonal from a subject to removal by antiretractable boots, firmly cock the parking brake. Try not to depart far from the poddomkrachenny car, especially if nearby there are children.
Before poddomkrachivat the car, take off a decorative cap and a balloon key weaken nuts of fastening of the wheel which is subject to replacement. Prepare the spare wheel.

On some models the cap fastens on a disk wheel nuts which at this stage should be weakened only!

All cars considered in the present manual are completed with a compact jack of scissors type which head should be brought to the strengthened points which are specially intended for this purpose in a forward or back part of thresholds. Take care of reliability of gearing of a head of a jack in a threshold stiffening rib ledge. Rotating the jack handle, lift the car so that the wheel which is subject to replacement came off the earth. Having thrown off fixing nuts, remove a wheel and establish on its place spare. Screw wheel nuts, then lower the car on the earth, remove a jack and hold on nuts of fastening of a wheel in a diagonal order with the required effort. Establish into place a cap. Put and remove the tool. Do not forget to put away antiretractable boots.

When carrying out more serious, than replacing a wheel of repair work under the car, besides a jack, special props are usually got. Props can be established under actually domkratny points of thresholds with making of the same whetstone with a groove, or under any of the bearing bottom elements as it is possible closer to domkratny points of thresholds.

Do not get a jack under other points of thresholds, the pallet of a case, panels of a floor or directly under components of the steering drive or a suspension bracket at all!

Do not perform any repair work under the car enshrined in the lifted provision by means of only one jack! Surely use reliable props!


Strictly speaking, the emergency vehicle should be towed with the driving (forward) wheels which are torn off from the earth (best of all in general on a tow truck platform). If it is necessary to make towage of the car without separation of forward wheels, turn the ignition key in position of OFF, in order to avoid damage of the lock of blocking of a wheel.

The cars equipped with AT can be towed by the forward course on all four wheels with a speed which is not exceeding 55 km/h (35 miles/h) and on distance no more than 80 km (50 miles). Before towage check the level of transmission liquid (see Chapter 1). If ATF does not reach the level of mark NOTES in an edge of the measuring probe, it is necessary to make necessary adjustment, or to tow the car only with the forward wheels which are torn off from the earth. Make the following preparatory procedures:

a) Release the parking brake;
b) Start the engine;
c) Transfer the selector lever to situation D4, then - to neutral (N);
d) Kill the engine;
e) Turn the ignition key in position of OFF (do not leave it in position of LOCK at all).

Never tow the car equipped with AT the back without separation from the earth of forward wheels!

If there is a need for towage of the car equipped with RKPP or AT of variatorny type (CVT) without separation of wheels from the earth do not forget to transfer a control lever to neutral transfer and to release the parking brake.

Use at towage of the emergency vehicle the towing sling which is only specially intended for this purpose which can be got cheap practically in any shop of automobile accessories. The sling has to cling only to the bearing body elements, - at all not to a bumper.

Do not forget to turn a key in the lock of ignition of the towed car in position of ON, otherwise inevitably there will be a blocking of a steering column. Besides, at the included ignition also indexes of turns and stoplights are activated.

Remember that at the switched-off engine efficiency of braking of the car considerably decreases because the vacuum amplifier of brakes ceases to function. At the same time it is necessary to squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake with a little big, than usually by effort. On the models equipped with the power steering when performing maneuvering the bigger effort should be put also to a steering wheel.

The driver of the towed vehicle has to try to hold constantly a towing sling in the tense situation in order to avoid breakthroughs and accidents of running-down him wheels.

Before a start of motion drivers of both vehicles (towing and towed) should coordinate among themselves a route.

The movement has to be carried out only with moderate speeds, along the shortest route and observance of traffic regulations. Avoid sharp braking, accelerations and maneuvering.
